Manchester United suffer another UCL defeat, Real Madrid triumph oveNapolir

Manchester United’s woes in the Champions League continued as they suffered a shock 3-2 defeat at home to Galatasaray on Tuesday, while Real Madrid came from behind to beat Napoli 3-2 in a thrilling encounter in Italy.

United, who lost their opening game 3-0 to Bayern Munich, took the lead twice through Rasmus Hojlund, but Galatasaray equalized each time with goals from Wilfried Zaha and Kerem Akturkoglu. The visitors then snatched a dramatic winner in the 81st minute when Mauro Icardi chipped Andre Onana after the goalkeeper had given away a penalty that the Argentine missed.

The result left United bottom of Group A with zero points, six behind leaders Bayern, who won 2-1 at FC Copenhagen thanks to late goals from Jamal Musiala and Mathys Tel. United manager Erik ten Hag lamented the “mental errors” his team made and said they expected more from themselves.

In Group B, Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the season as they were stunned 2-1 by Lens in France. The Gunners went ahead through Gabriel Jesus, but Lens equalized with Adrien Thomasson and then took the lead with Wahi, their club-record signing. Arsenal also lost their star player Bukayo Saka to injury before half-time and could not find a way back into the game.

Lens moved to the top of the group with four points, one more than Arsenal, who are level with Sevilla. The Spanish side drew 2-2 at PSV Eindhoven after Jordan Teze scored a stoppage-time equalizer for the hosts.

In Group C, Real Madrid maintained their perfect start with a 3-2 victory over Napoli at the San Paolo Stadium. The hosts took the lead through Lorenzo Insigne, but Madrid turned the game around with goals from Jude Bellingham and Karim Benzema. Napoli equalized again with Victor Osimhen, but Bellingham set up Vinicius Junior for the decisive goal in the 77th minute.

Bellingham, who joined Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, continued his sensational form with his eighth goal and third assist of the season. The 19-year-old England international has been hailed as one of the best players in the world by his coach Carlo Ancelotti and his teammates.

Madrid lead the group with six points, three ahead of Napoli and Shakhtar Donetsk, who beat RB Salzburg 2-1 in Ukraine. Salzburg are bottom with zero points
